Jumbo Pansy/Rotkopf Coturnix Quail Eggs - Southwest Gamebirds

Jumbo Pansy/Rotkopf Hatching Eggs

From $55.99

Our Jumbo Pansy/Rotkopf is a bloodline developed and offered exclusively by Southwest Gamebirds. The plumage variant was isolated from a collection of birds imported from Germany in 2020, and we have worked at Southwest Gamebirds to improve its size and production characteristics to create a new dual purpose line. The result: A stunning bird true to its German form in regard to plumage, with males averaging 290 grams and females averaging 330 grams by 10 weeks. They also lay a nicely sized 12-14 gram egg, rounding them out (pun intended!) a great dual purpose bird to raise for meat and eggs.

What to expect: 100% Pansy/Rotkopf plumage, in its true German form. Males are known for their distinctive red mask, which led to the common name "Rotkopf" meaning "redhead" in German. Males will have slight variation in this plumage near the mandible with some showing solid red and others fading to black and red mottling. Both males and females exhibit varying amounts of rust, cream, white, gold, and black plumage, often all on the same feather. At hatch, Pansy/Rotkopf is one of the most uniquely patterned varieties, with rust and yellow down, and thin black stripes on the back in place of the wider stripes seen in Pharaoh plumage. At 2-3 weeks, the birds look extremely light, with few black spots and pale coloration, almost as if they are diluted by the Fee gene. By maturity, the rich coloring for which Pansy/Rotkopf is known develops all over the bird and the dark barring becomes more prominent. We have not had any other plumage variants hatch from this bloodline, so it is ideal for breeders interested in pure genetics or introducing the plumage pattern into their flock.

We ship all Pansy/Rotkopf hatching eggs with care in custom foam for insulation and protection during transport. The post office can be unpredictable, but this shipping method gives your eggs the best chance of maintaining viability, and we always include extra eggs free of charge when available. While we cannot guarantee your hatching success, we are more than willing to assist with any incubation or shipping related issues, so feel free to contact us at any point of your quail journey if you have questions or concerns about your eggs. Our goal is to make you happy with high quality eggs, fast shipping, and good customer service.
