Egyptian is the result of the Roux Dilution. This lightens the plumage, making Egyptian quail a beautiful light brown color. They retain the Pharaoh plumage pattern, but a much lighter version of it. Our Egyptians can be used to make sex linked breeding groups, because Roux is located on the (Z) Sex Chromosome. By pairing Egyptian males with Pharaoh females (who cannot carry Roux), the offspring will hatch Egyptian females and Pharaoh males. Pair Egyptian males with Tibetan females instead, and you’ll hatch Scarlet females and Rosetta males every time. Another popular pairing is Egyptian males with Golden Manchurian females, which will produce Autumn Amber females and Italian males.
Our Egyptian quail are a standard-sized bird, weighing 8-12 oz bird and laying 12-14 gram eggs. Through selective breeding, we are slowly increasing the size of our Egyptian quail to make them a true jumbo line.
What to expect: Our Egyptians hatch 100% true. While it is possible for Egyptians to carry recessive traits, we have not observed this in our flock.
We ship all Egyptian quail eggs with care in custom foam for insulation and protection during transport. The post office can be unpredictable, but this shipping method gives your eggs the best chance of maintaining viability, and we always include extra eggs free of charge when available.
