The legendary quality of the Boyd line is brought to you by Southwest Gamebirds. Through our most exciting breeding project yet, we have managed to procure two unrelated lines of bantam quail originally imported into the U.S. 30 years ago and made popular by Boyd’s Bird Company. This line was rumored to have been lost in the US, but we are reviving it for the falconry industry and we have big plans for this little bird!
Our Premium Bantam Quail are humanely dispatched using CO2 gas, vacuum sealed, and frozen in convenient bags of 10. They are fed a Vitamin E, Copper, and Manganese-enriched feed and raised to 6 – 8 weeks of age, allowing them to retain fat-soluble nutrients and develop fully ossified bones. Our research suggests that this makes quail an ideal food source for birds of prey, as well as other carnivores. We recommend quail as a staple diet for birds of prey, but not to exceed 60% of their total diet. In particular, we recommend Premium Bantam Quail for high performance falcons or other raptors preparing for a long hunt or abatement trip.
Premium Bantam Quail have an average weight of 85 – 110 grams or 3.5 oz.
